CHEMISTRY CHAPTER ZERO

Seeing without Seeing

Just an aside: When I visit schools to do demonstrations, I warm up my audience by asking them “What do we say when we see something neat with our eyes? [answer: Oooh!] and What do we say when we see something neat with our minds? [answer” Aha!]. And of course, one can divide the class in halves and see whether the “Oooh!”s can be louder than the “Aha!”s. Reminder to teachers: When you must teach observations and inferences, please remember that neat observations rate an “Oooh!” and neat inferences rate an “Aha!”.

Enough, enough!
Show me how you can help me learn chemistry!
